Tour of Cortona

Today started with a bright and early breakfast followed by out art tour around Cortona. We saw the original cathedral and it’s museum. The museum had some works of art that were described in our textbook, which I thought was pretty interesting because it doesn't seems like Cortona historically significant in art. After lunch, the group took a 45 min hike over to Le Celle, the monastery in which St. Francis lived. And during the hike, of course, it was hottest it has been since we got here. Definitely worth the hike though!

Speaking of weather, it has been pretty cold since we arrived. I was kind of worried at first because I packed expecting 70-80 degree weather. It has been more like 60s, and 50s at night. From what we have heard though, this is unusual for Cortona too.

It was great spending the entire day with just the science group because it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other more. Amy and I finally feel like we have more friends :). In fact, a group is going to Cinque Terre during the days we have off and had 2 extra spots at the hostel and asked us if we wanted to join them! I was elated because it also meant I didn’t have to do any of the planning :). So there we have it, 21 of us (plus another 10 in an other reservation, so pretty much the entire science maymester) are going to Cinque Terre this weekend.
