Today we had our first full day in
Cortona, class included. Before I start, I’m going to finish
the rest of yesterday.
When we
landed in Rome, I caught a glimpse out the window on the plane and got sooooo
excited when I saw mine and Amy’s luggage off get pulled off the plane. Turns
out, of the 10 of us that were on that flight, only mine Amy’s made it with us.
The other 8 had to wait at the airport until the next flight from Frankfurt came
in until they could leave for Cortona. I don’t know how Amy and I managed to
get ours and leave with the rest of the maymester to Cortona,
but someone was definitely watching out for us! Praise God!
After the 3
hour bus ride to Cortona, we had our first meal at Tonino’s whch serves us
dinner Monday through Friday. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed in the food at first.
Today, we
were able to sleep in, do our reading for class, and head down the mountain
(its really only a hill) into town for lunch. Amy and I found this little café
on the side of the main street that was owned by this husband and wife from
Manchester. By the way, they spoke English :).
We had science class from 1:30 until 4ish and talked about prions. Fascinating
stuff (I’m intrigued by proteins for some reason. I’m such a nerd)!
Before dinner, the restaurant hosted a wine tasting for us, which was
wonderful! We learned a lot of good info!
(part of our hill we get to walk down every day)
