Today, we were in class today for 4 hours straight. NONE of us were happy about it. The one thing that was
interesting though was how passionate our professor was about the topic:
African Sleeping Sickness. His research in Athens is on the organisms
that cause it. During his lecture, he mentioned some countries that had an
overwhelming number of cases around 10 years ago, one of which was Tanzania. When
he said that, I had trouble focusing on the rest of the lecture because a friend
of mine is studying abroad there for a Maymester right now.
For lunch,
Amy and I split this pizza with gorgonzola, pear, and walnuts. Absolutely amazing!
Gelato followed, once again. So far I’m on a role: gelato everyday!
Later, we had our first art history
lecture. Our professor is incredible! I feel so fortunate to have her for when
we go to Siena, Florence, and Rome. Tomorrow, we have our first art tour
around Cortona!
After dinner, Amy and I tried to
sit down and plan our days off we have starting Sunday. We decided we want to
go to Cinque Terre. Once we sat down to plan a place to stay, it all turned
into a pretty good fail. Hotels were too expensive, and hostels were either
booked or we would be rooming with 6 randoms which we were not too excited
about. After much frustration, we finally gave up and decided to figure it out tomorrow.
